1755 Ping coupling
EP couplings are used as flexible compensating couplings in all applications requiring a reliable transmission of torque under harsh operating conditions. The conical seats of the buffer pins facilitate mounting and guarantee maintenance-free operation. The optimized shape of the barrelled buffers allows simple plug-in assembly and low circumferential backlash. Many type variants are offered, e. g. with brake disk, axial play limiting device, or brake motor couplings.

Elflex flexible couplings are cushioned drive type couplings that transmit the torque through rubber bushes which have an excellent capacity to absorb shocks. A barrel shape of the bushes guarantees a uniform distribution of loads, even in case of misalignment, thus limiting the bending moment resulting from the radial force on the pins. Bushes are composed of a NBR element containing natural rubber.

Type of pin & bush coupling with brake disk
The flexible coupling is a fail-safe pin & bush coupling with brake disk.
Depending on the plant EP couplings are often provided with brake disks, rather infrequently with brake drum. The coupling is either used as a holding brake or as a service brake.
The position of the brake disk is intended on the driven side. With high-speed drives we recommend dynamic balancing from 30 m/s. Safety-relevant drives are preferably combined with steel hubs. Applications with lower demands can be combined with cast iron hubs.
Combinations with pin & bush coupling and brake:
Available in combination with KTR brakes type KTR-STOP (hydraulic) or EMB-STOP (electromechanical) on request. In addition the customer benefits from a supply from one single source so that there is the option to develop the brake (KTR STOP) as well.

Our pin & bush coupling with brake disk is used both as a holding brake and as a service brake, e. g. on conveyor belts, generators, turbine drives, industrial fans, cranes, hoists, etc.

Due to their torsional flexibility, EP couplings can move critical torsional vibrations away from the operating area of mechanical equipment in such a way that no negative effects on the drive train are to be expected. EP couplings are made of high-quality cast iron. The flexible elements made of synthetic rubber (Buna-N) are available in different degrees of hardness for many applications. Metal pins and flexible elements are designed so that no wear occurs when they are properly fitted.
